Divorce and Family Matters
Our Family Law Team is headed by Peter Avis who has over 20 years litigation experience including sitting as a Deputy District Judge.
A member of “Resolution” the specialist association for Family lawyers and a former Regional Chair of the Legal Aid Area Appeals Committee he has been involved in a number of substantial cases which have been as far as the Court of Appeal and House of Lords.
We have many years experience representing clients in matrimonial separations and in divorce proceedings. We aim to adhere to the “Resolution” protocol and to approach your case in as non-confrontational a manner as possible but we will be firm and decisive and fight your corner when necessary. We always offer our matrimonial clients a free initial consultation and have a range of payment options available.
Living Together/Co-habitation Disputes
Many people now choose to live together instead of marrying. The phrase “common law spouse” has no legal meaning, if things go wrong a completely different set of legal rules to those applicable on divorce comes into effect. The laws of Land Law and Trusts will be used to resolve matters. This is a complex area in which we are able to give you expert advice.
Co-habitation Agreements are becoming increasingly popular and we would be pleased to give you advice concerning your own personal circumstances.
Same Sex Relationships
New legislation will see same sex couples enjoying new legal rights and we will be pleased to advise you about these as the law comes into force.
Costs
We have a range of payment options and would be pleased to discuss costs with you at the outset. We normally offer a free initial interview at which these matters can be discussed.
